Privacy policy

MovieLike collects as little data as possible: enough to record your votes and opinions, nothing for advertising.

Data controller

The publisher of MovieLike, a private individual, reachable at contact@movielike.app.

Data we process

  • Guest account: a random technical identifier, created at your first vote or opinion, with no email.
  • Member account: your email address (sign-in by code, no password) and, if you choose, a name.
  • Your similarity votes, your opinions (liked, loved, didn’t like) and your watchlist.
  • Technical logs (IP address, date, requested page), to keep the service secure.

Why

  • Providing the service: recording your votes and opinions, signing you in (performance of the service you ask for).
  • Ranking matches for everyone: votes are aggregated, never shown by name.
  • Measuring audience with no cookie, as aggregated statistics (Rybbit, an open-source tool hosted by the publisher), and protecting the service (legitimate interest).

Retention

  • Guest accounts without activity: 30 days; guest accounts that voted: 13 months after the last activity.
  • Member accounts: until deleted. On deletion, your votes are no longer linked to anyone: only anonymous totals remain.
  • Sessions: 60 days. Technical logs: 14 days.
  • Accounts from the former MovieLike (2010-2021): an information email offers to reactivate them; without reactivation, they are deleted 6 months after that email.

Recipients

Your data is neither sold nor shared for advertising. It is hosted in the European Union by Hetzner Online GmbH. Sign-in emails go through a sending provider located in the European Union. TMDB and JustWatch receive no data about you.

Cookies

MovieLike only uses cookies the service needs (sign-in session, guest account). No advertising or audience cookie: no consent is therefore asked.

Your rights

You can access your data, correct it, export it, object to a processing or delete your account. Write to contact@movielike.app. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr), the French data protection authority.
