About MovieLike

MovieLike answers a simple question: you loved a movie, which ones feel like it? Matches are voted by the community, and every suggestion says where it comes from.

How it works

For every pair of titles, one question: are they alike? Votes push the right matches up and the others down. Suggestions without votes yet come from MovieLike’s history, BetaSeries or TMDB recommendations, and say so.

History

2010 – No French website helped find movies that feel alike. The first beta of MovieLike already relies on TheMovieDB’s API.
2011 – The first official version is out, blogs write about it, then GameOne and Korben: traffic explodes. Elias joins the team.
2012-2013 – Member area, trailers, a new design and social features.
2014 – iPhone and Android apps, without much success.
2017 – A complete technical overhaul, then the site stops: it had become too costly.
2020-2021 – A new version starts from scratch, keeping the database and the idea.
2026 – MovieLike is back, on the web and on mobile, with the votes of its long-time members.
